Rani of Jhansi, India

Rani of Jhansi (Lakshmibai) was the queen of the princely state of Jhansi in North India. Queen Lakshmibai was the leading figure during the Indian Rebellion of 1857. She became a prominent figure of resistance to the British Raj. She was famous among the Brits and Indian nationals for her valor and fighting skills.

Today, people remember her with a sword and riding a horse. Across India, there are several statues of her. She was highly patriotic. Her patriotism has been rewarded by honoring her with several statues, novels, films, songs, and poems. Exact events following her death is unknown as there are several traditions/stories on how she died. But, she truly lived and died for the country on 18 June 1858 fighting the British.
